Quick overview of our Indoor Football competition

Each indoor Football league lasts for 16 or 17 weeks depending on the season and there are three leagues throughout the year (summer, winter and autumn). Each league will begin with a grading period for 3 weeks followed by around 12 weeks of competition rounds and concluding with two/three weeks of finals and play off matches.

Your team will play one game per week during this period.

The major semi-final and finals matches are played to determine a winner for each division plus play-offs are played for minor placings within divisions not competing in major finals.

We use a large yellow ball much like a massive tennis ball which helps with developing ball skills, especially for the beginner players. Games run for 26 minutes during the lunchtime leagues and 30 minutes in the evening leagues. The point scoring system is 1 point for males, 2 points for females. However, if a female plays in the men’s grade she receives only 1 point for a goal. It is only the mixed grade in which a female receives 2 points.

If you want to know more, check out the rules here.

Grading of teams ensures the pace is challenging while suited to your level of fitness and ability. Please note that if your team is not present for grading matches, you will not be eligible for sponsor prizes.

Whether you’re looking to increase your fitness, have a social fun-time with friends, or seriously compete to keep your football skills up, the large numbers of teams that play indoor football and our effective grading system ensure you’ll be placed in a grade that suits you.

Men’s teams and mixed teams accepted – lunchtime and evening leagues

We have mixed leagues that run on Tuesday and Thursday nights with our men’s leagues running on a Monday and Wednesday. Sunday is used as a make-up day due to the large amount of teams we have in the evenings.

Lunchtime and evening leagues – find a time that suits you!

We run both lunch time and evening leagues between the following times: Monday – Friday 11am- 3.15pm (lunchtime) and Monday – Thursday 5.30pm – 10.00pm (evenings) and Sundays starting anywhere from 5pm continuing on through to 8.00pm.

Our lunch time leagues mainly cater to our corporate clients or the business sector of Wellington. It’s a great way to get out of the office and stretch the legs for half an hour and we run 26 minute games to still give teams time to grab lunch.

Our evening leagues run a similar format although we have a majority focus on our social teams made up of friends and family. We run 30 minute games in the evening and get a very diverse range of people from beginners to semi-professional football players. Backpackers and travellers often get involved on a short term basis!
