Futsal
– great football skill developer and awesome fun!
Played by over 100 countries and 12 million people, Futsal is the only official form of indoor soccer as approved by the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA).
Great soccer superstars such as Pele, Zico and Socrates grew up playing the game and credit Futsal with developing their skills.
Games in the indoor Futsal competition demand quick reflexes, fast thinking and pinpoint passing. It’s a great game for teams of novice players right through to highly skilled players!

Quick overview of our Futsal competition
Each Futsal league last about 17 weeks and there are three leagues throughout the year (summer, winter and autumn). Each league will begin with a grading period for 2 weeks followed by around 13 weeks of competition rounds. Your team will play one game per week during this period.
The season is finished off with semi-final and finals matches to find a winner for each division plus play-offs for minor placings.
Futsal is played on a court similar in size to a basketball court with a size 4 ball which is like a regular outdoor football but heavier. This low bounce ball means players have to use their skills rather than the ball’s bounce to propel it. The game does not use side walls like other forms of indoor soccer. Games are 35 minutes long – 15 minutes each way.
If you want to know more, check out the rules here.
Fewer rules than traditional football – more free-flowing
Want a game where there are fewer rules? Futsal is more like a regular game of outdoor football but with fewer rules and a more free-flow feel to it.
Come along and see a game – we’re in Kilbirnie
Even if you haven’t got a team yet come and have a look at the game. Maybe you can fill in if a team is short a person. Talk to whoever is running the night if you’re interested!
Games are played Sundays (5.30pm onwards) and Mondays (6pm onwards) at the Wellington Indian Sports and Cultural Centre, Kemp St, Kilbirnie.
Although we don’t have a children’s league yet, please contact Matt if you’re interested as Futsal is loads of fun for kids too!
